  
The "Abyssinian Cat" etching was created in 1978. The cat was drawn with a needle. The texture for the sofa or chair which the cat is resting on was created with a soft ground etching technique. In this case I would have pressed fabric (or perhaps netting)into the soft waxy ground and then removed it - and in doing so, also removed some of the ground which would get bitten with acid. This was an experiment. I liked the effect but don't recall using this technique for creating texture in any other etchings. Plate size is 5"x7"
