This beautiful etching of the Brooklyn Bridge was created by John Collette in the early 1980's
For this work John made two copper plates. One plate was for the black line and aquatint. The second plate, which was done in a very loose style, carried the pale blue green in the sky and water . The remaining colors were hand painted with watercolor.
This etching has great scale, and a small variety of well chosen muted colors. The bridge and foreground were done with a coarse grain to the aquatint. The little tug boat on the East River has a touch of red on the smoke stack. As if seen through haze or fog, Manhattan is beyond the bridge with the WTC twin towers in the distance.
The print is number 44/200
Printed on extra heavyweight etching paper
Plate size is 15" x 18"
Signed, numbered and titled in pencil by John Collette. There are several small crease marks along the top and sides, not readily seen and do not detract from the print. If you would like to see those areas, please ask and I will send a close up as a JPG.
