This is a very early etching - a dry point done in 1970, number 69/100. It is the second marine image I created, a fishing boat tied up at a pier in Provincetown, MA. More than half way through the edition, the plate still has rich blacks. Some of the burr has worn away, giving it a lovely softness in areas.
The watercolor technique is loose - rather bold in the sky especially, with a palette of basically four colors - Burnt Sienna, Indigo, Yellow Ochre and Alizarin Crimson.
Numbered and signed "C. Collette", but not titled.
This print has small borders beyond the plate mark, varying from 5/8 inch to 1 inch, still large enough to mat and frame.
